  International Year-Long Daniel Fast
God is leading me to engage in a fast (Daniel-style) with other believers for a year (and perhaps more as God leads).
Here’s the basic concept: We fast as Daniel did, but 5 days a week (during the work week, e.g from 8am Mon to 5pm Fri) for an entire year.
There are many ways the Daniel fast has been presented. I take my inspiration from the Amplified.

Daniel 10:3
I ate no pleasant or desirable food, nor did any meat or wine come into my mouth; and I did not anoint myself at all for the full three weeks.
This leaves us free to celebrate, fellowship in a more normal manner on weekends.
Coupled with the 10 day contest that Daniel proposed eating only vegetable and drinking water, you can shape it however you like.
The idea is that we join together. I will be seeking His anointing and explicit direction for my life.
My desire is to see the Glory of God revealed in the earth, through a bride wrapped in holiness and empowered by the Spirit of the living God.
If you want to jump in and have some comradery, it would be sweet to do it together in a similar fashion to how national fasts were called in the old testament. Just post a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Awesome. So far it has been a pretty uneventful fast. Just discipline mixed with a little monotony.
Thanks for coming on board.

sorry i didnt really know how to mail you so i thought i’d leave a message here.
I was just thinking about your high bandwidth problem and i thought up of a solution. you could use bittorrents instead and just use your rss to update people when there is a new bittorrent available. as people share the files between each other then bandwidth is saved. just an idea - might be worth doing with large video files at least.
thank you for your podcast though its really neat :o)

I have been brought and lead by God since the start of lent to do just this… in a manner of ways first giving up meat as I heard the Spirit speak it to me. The Spirit has been showing me that I should do these things to keep that spiritual fire burning inside me and when I have messed I get an overwhelming depression that settles on me to which the only escape is to sing praise to God like in isaiah 61:3 garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness. I have also seen increased strength in my prayer life with answers being so strong that I have noticed a need to couple every prayer asking that if it’s not God’s will let it drop by the wayside. I still have a few questions… does that mean you go all week with out showering and not putting on deodorant?? cause that’s a hard one. I feel that this is how Joel’s Army will live there lives… I also have some questions about five days a week I felt that God was leading me to a six day a week fast.
I’ve noticed an acute increase in visions and in my discerning and have been “hotwired” to the Spirit realm since I began this fast.
email me when there’s more on this thread please…

First, let me say that I can only speak out of my personal walk, and what conclusions I have drawn. I don’t imply that there is only one way, or that my way is best etc. So here’s how I came to engage in the 5 day/week fast for a year. I run an advertising agency and have a wife and 2 kids. I volunterr in my local church as the youth director (commonly referred to as a Youth Pastor). I find myself often consumed with work and keeping pace with the other things in my life. Often I work greater than 16 hour days. I am not rich, I just do what I have to in order to honor contracts, and keep my family taken care of. In the last year, I have had several encounters with the Lord through the power of his Word. Some came to me through a prophet, some through other believers, some by observing missionaries, some by listening to sermons from: Bill Johnson, Todd Bentley, Heidi Baker, David Hogan etc… I got to the place where my job (which I have always loved) was no longer something I enjoyed, compared to the times when I was in His presence. So I decided, that I would start fasting during my workweek. This was my way of maintaining some spiritual focus even while I was caught up in this whirlwind that is my life. I have taken the inspiration for my fast from Daniel 10:3 where he said he ate nothing desirable. Now regarding bathing, given our culture and the neccesisty to maintain a spirit of excellence in my profession, it was not an option for me not to bathe.
Nor do I feel it would add anything to my personal fast. Others may come to a different conclusion. The point is, I believe grace exists to do as you feel led, or have the desire to. Just like Daniel did. If you want to discuss further, feel free. Keep the flame…

I had the same thought of grace for fasting and following the leadings of the spirit in an individual so that it’s something God leads the individual to do regardless of the jones next door.

Is it proper to fast for yourself to be freed from a stronghold…while having the heart to participate in this sense of a coropate fast for this generation? I am along with this but I have the anxiety of failure and giving in to the poundings of my flesh/ YES YES YES we need desparately for the Spirit of God to fall on our lost generation and upon His Bride!

I have been fasting for two weeks now…..modified Daniel Fast with no meat, mostly Powerade, water, and juice, vegtables in small amounts. Have I fallen? Yes I have but when I focus on God and offer personal sacrifice to be “shaken and stirred” by Him my forward momentum toward the goal increases my ferver to offer my entire self to Him. Headaches, restlessness, dizzyness, impatience, and finding myself in dazes sometimes are my cleansing of my carnal self and to acccept my spiritual self with gladness. Please pray for me as I will you. I am also going to Nashville. Be blessed!

Linda, David said he fasted to afflict his soul. I fast mainly to give me a focus, and because Jesus said we can only overcome certain demonic forces by prayer and fasting. What he was implying is that the time to fast is before you encounter the enemy in the life of someone else, so you will have the tools needed to overcome that enemy. In the case of yourself I would look to that same passage as inspiration that you may overcome by prayer and fasting.
Rest in Him, and take each victory and savor it. When you fall, thaink of Peter, how he denied the Lord 3 times less than 24 hours after Jesus told him he would. That same Peter rasied a woman (Dorcas/Tabitha) from the dead later in his life.
Much Love

Pete…
2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore, from now on you shall have wars.
I hope to see you in nashville. My wife and I will be wearing firekeep shirts. look for us.
Much Love Keep the flame!

Hi all. I don’t even really know how to explain it, but after attending The Call on 07/07/07, continuing my fast felt like it was just a ritual, so I have suspended my fast.
