Bill Johnson, a Friend of God
I thank God for Heidi Baker, because in a sermon ~2 years ago, she referenced Bill Johnson as her favorite teacher. At that time I had no idea who Bill was. Shortly after listening to her message, I searched him out. He is the pastor of a church in Redding CA called Bethel
Long story short, he has inspired his congregation to actually believe the Bible to the point of doing things with what they believe. things that they could not do apart from the power of God.
My family and I had the pleasure of spending 3 days in services listening to this man of God share the Bread of Life with us at Life Center in Harrisburg, PA. When he speaks, the reaction in my heart and spirit is quite similar I am sure, to that of the disciples listening to our Lord. Bill speaks from a place of experience, not theory doctrine, and theology. (For thought: In theory, practice and theory are the same, in practice, they are not.)
That is not to say his sermons are not doctrinally, or theologically sound, but they are not arguments developed and shaped to convince you of some well planned point. While profound, they are simple. When he speaks His words come alive in you, the Spirit of God bearing witness and quickening His own Word in our core.
I have never heard such life in the words of any man. If my eyes were closed and I listened to him speak I could easily imagine it being our Lord Himself speaking. Before you take offense to that statement. Is it not the goal of all Christians to be conformed to the image of Christ? So it makes sense that someone who is largely conformed to His image would sound like our Lord.
If you are hungry for inspiration, and believe there is more to your Christian life, I would recommend you subscribe to their podcast “Bethel Church sermon of the week free our gift to you” you can find it here: bethel’s website
Be inspired. Keep the Flame.

Amen to that! First time I heard him. I knew he spoke from experience not just theological theories. What you said is right simple yet profound. He made me more hungry for Gods presence than all the sermons I have heard in my life.
