Update from a friend in #Haiti (port au prince near petionville)

An update from #Haiti from a christian relief organization that has been there for years with locations all over the island.

The visuals are vivid for me as I remember the sound of children (headed to the school that collapsed yesterday with some of them inside) was a welcome happy sound in the mornings outside my window when I was there.

Here is the update from http://imohaiti.org

The following is an email from Faithe Claxton with International Missions Outreach:

Thank you so much for your sincere concern for mom and dad and our people in Haiti.

I have been able to confirm this morning that Pastor John and Joyce are ok. The buildings at the compound are standing. They are cracked, but they are standing. We do have structural damage to the buildings. Most of the contents of the insides are broken. The majority of our staff that work at the compound have lost their homes. We have confirmation that the LeFerve church collapsed. We also have massive damage at Boutin. We were able to communicate with them via 2 way radios. We know we will have more structural damages as we are able to start moving around. The back and side of the security wall are down at the comound. Pastor John said it is going to cost millions to repair the damages. They have not been able to access anything outside of the immediate compound and with those that had 2 way radios. They are limited in what they can do this morning as the after shocks are continuing and everything is down in their house and offices.

They have a couple of other missionaries that came there to stay last night. They stayed outside in the open areas of the compound all night. They were all able to enter in the volunteer quarters after about 2 am.

The after shocks are continuing and are expected to continue over the next 72 hours.

Please Pray. We need help!! WE NEED YOU ! He said right now they need the money to start the work.

Donations can be made through our website at www.imohaiti.org or our mailing address is PO Box 1145, Clendenin, WV 25045. Please be sure to let us know that it is for the earthquake.

  1. Angela Zimmerman Says:

Thank you for sharing this beautiful note, Timothy. Before reaching the point of hearing about the pastor and his wife, I nearly stopped breathing. It’s difficult understanding on this side of the world the magnitude of death and grief as a result of this catastrophe. But I praise and thank God that your friends are well. Thanks also for sharing the address for donations. I have a pastor friend in Haiti right now who flew in a few days after the quake to possibly retrieve a child in an orphanage he was sponsoring. To this day my prayers have been met with silence. I wait to hear from him.

God bless you for your heart and all that you do. May we see the work of God’s hands move in good and glorious ways for the rebuilding of a nation so desperate physically and spiritually.
